Cross-cut

While the piece began during my study of strict serialism, I quickly departed into a freer treatment of serial procedures so that I could better develop some melodic and rhythmic ideas that had surfaced in the piece.  The name references a concept in film editing that I feel parallels the quick sectional changes that occur in this piece.  The music travels across a variety of textures that often stand in stark contrast to one another.
